Top Board Game Video Games

UGO.com has posted a nice list of the top video games that are based on board games. There are certainly a lot of crappy ones (anyone remember the Trivial Pursuit arcade game?) but there are lots of good ones. I tend to shy away from the total 'luck based' popular American board games but they are not all bad and they are usually decent plays with the younger kids.

John, Paul, George, Ringo and... Bert! - Original Cast Recording

How about the original cast recording to the 1974 Beatles themed musical?

From wikipedia

John, Paul, George, Ringo...& Bert is a 1974 play by Willy Russell based on the story of The Beatles. It premiered at the Everyman Theater in Liverpool in May 1974 where it ran for eight weeks and later moved to the Lyric Theatre in London in August 1974, where it ran for a year and was later named "Best Musical of 1974" by the Evening Standard and London Critics' awards.[1] It featured the music of the Beatles performed by Barbara Dickson. It also briefly ran in the United States in 1985.[2]
According to an interview with Creem magazine, George Harrison stated that he saw the play with Derek Taylor and greatly disliked it.[3], he walked out while attending the London premiere and withdrew his permission to use his song "Here Comes The Sun".[4] It was replaced with "Good Day Sunshine".[5]

World Cup (USA loses to Ghana)

I have to apologize for the rather sporadic posting lately. I have been on vacation for two weeks but a couple of things have drawn my attention away from the blogosphere. The World Cup has kept my attention for the past couple of weeks (at nearly 6 hours per day for the round robin part of the tournament). THe US lost to Ghana (AGAIN!) so now I have to find someone else to root for I guess...

I am also restoring an old arcade cabinet (with MAME) and that project is almost finished - and, oh yeah, it kicks some serious ass! It's an old 2 player Spider-Man cabinet with two joysticks and two buttons for each player and all of this is wired to my computer (via USB port) which is mounted in the cabinet. The cabinet in the youtube video is not mine but I just wanted to give everyone an idea of what you can achieve for a relatively small amount. I had the old computer laying around and I found a free cabinet so I only had to buy a monitor (22 inch LCD for $130) and a few small parts. Cool!

Top Ten Cartoon Bands

I found a list of the top ten cartoon bands on Listverse recently so I thought that would be a great idea for my own top ten list. I tried to stay away from bands that actually existed in the real world but I did include a couple of bands that existed because of the tv show. I thought that the number one band would be a no-brainer for me but as I listened to some of these bands I almost changed my mind.

10. Alvin and the Chipmunks - Rock and Roll

9. The Brady Kids - Opening Theme

8. The Partridge Family 2200 A.D. - Gypsy Girl

7. Jabberjaw - The Neptunes - The Mountain of Time

6. Josie and the Pussycats - Inside, Outside, Upside Down

5. Cattanooga Cats - Birthday Suit

4. The Archies - Catchin' Up On Fun With the Hamburger Hop

3. The Banana Splits - I'm Gonna Find a Cave

2. Groovy Goolies - 1-2-3

1. Fat Albert - Playin' Hookey

Spinoff Movies from Saturday Night Live

We all know of the legend of SNL spinoff movies. Some are great and some are not.. or even worse than that.

Rotten Tomatoes has a countdown of all ELEVEN (I could have sworn that there were many more than this!) including video clips.

Soccer Balls (a Flash game)

The graphics are pretty bland and the gameplay is ultra simple but the levels do get challenging after you play for a while. Despite the aforementioned, I keep finding myself strangely attracted to this game and then I can't quit...

Doc Savage Music Video (1975)

Is this movie as bad as everyone says that it is? It's been a long time but I remember enjoying it. I am presently making my way through the recently released volume 1 of classic DC comics reprints. They are kind of silly but a lot of fun.

I have also subscribed to the latest DC comics series but I haven't started reading it yet (I think that they are on issue two so it's not too late to jump on). Reviews on the net seem to be mostly negative for this one though.
