Apparently, lots of people are still playing cards (I know that my family does but usually only when we are camping) so take a gander at this great UK site devoted to the art of the playing card.
UGO.com has posted a nice list of the top video games that are based on board games. There are certainly a lot of crappy ones (anyone remember the Trivial Pursuit arcade game?) but there are lots of good ones. I tend to shy away from the total 'luck based' popular American board games but they are not all bad and they are usually decent plays with the younger kids.
Retrospace has posted a nice feature titled 'Terrible Games for the Whole Family to Dread.' There are lots of crazy ideas for board games here and a few of them make you wonder what in the hell possessed anyone to think that they were good ideas.
I always thought that I was good at Monopoly but I have never really had a chance to test that theory. With the info from this web site I might be able to step it up a notch.
The biggest tip to me was to stop at three houses and not go for a fourth or a hotel. Makes sense if you statistically analyze.
