Ventriloquism Albums

Apparently, ventriloquists used to be such a hot commodity so they had to release vinyl albums to satisfy the masses. Or not. But I do remember owning a Charlie McCarthy ventriloquism doll so I must have been into it at least a tiny bit back before I knew better.

Jack Benny Christmas Episodes (Radio)

Classic Television Showbiz posted an embedded link today that lets you listen to FIFTY Christmas themed Jack Benny shows. The humor is a little dated but for my money, which is nothing in this case, this is one of the funniest shows from radio's golden age (I would also include Fibber McGee and Molly and the Great Gildersleeve as THE funniest shows).

X Minus One and Dimension X

By now it should be no secret that I have a certain fondness for old science-fiction short stories and there isn't much that represents this genre (better than the genre itself) than the old radio dramas, X MINUS ONE and DIMENSION X. I have highlighted them before (and will probably do so again) but if you still haven't heard these shows and you are a science fiction fan you should do yourself a big favor and check them out. You can download them from www.archive.org for free so you really do have nothing to lose.

If you don't know where to begin I recommend MARS IS HEAVEN or THE ROADS MUST ROLL, two literature classics from the period.
