Last week I featured some great 1950's animated commercials so this week I will stay in the same decade (give or take a few years) and move on out to the drive-in.
You might be wondering why I am showing Drive-In intermission ads as part of the regular Saturday Morning Cartoon feature? Well, I always loved the cheesy animation and many times I did technically watch these things on Saturday mornings (i.e. Friday night after midnight). Ok, it's a cheat but hopefully you will enjoy these! Archive.org now has 23 complete drive-in intermission loops! Wow!
Spring is in the air so why not go the virtual drive-in? We still have two drive-ins in our area but they only show new movies, it costs $7 for each adult, and they quit showing the intermission loops a couple of years ago! This 'drive-in' is much better!
I used to love watching these things back in the day. We still have two drive-ins in our area but they don't show anything during the intermissions. Major bummer. I never saw the bungling burglar loop but the professor candy and big top loops were shown at one of the drive-ins that we frequented when I was a youngster. Fun.
