To the Fair (1964/65 New York World's Fair Promotional Film)

I was bored last night and had a half of an hour to kill before the Stanley Cup Playoffs started (I have watched all but 2 of the games this year! Over twenty and counting!) so I surfed over to the Internet Archive and discovered this nice little time capsule dealing with the 1964/65 New York World's Fair. It's pretty corny but it does make one wish that they could get in their time machine and visit this World's Fair (which is somewhat similar to Walt Disney's vision known as Epcot Center).

Treasure Island - Site of the 1939 World's Fair/Golden Gate International Exposition

When I got out of the Navy in 1991 I was temporarily assigned to Treasure Island and one day I was given a weed whacker and sent to chop weeds in a 'forest-like' area that I eventually found, after much weed whacking, to be the site of one of the large fountains from the fair! It was a bit dissapointing in that they let these treasures decay to such a level yet it was somewhat exciting as I felt like some kind of archaeological explorer that had just made some major discovery!
