UGO.com has posted a nice list of the top video games that are based on board games. There are certainly a lot of crappy ones (anyone remember the Trivial Pursuit arcade game?) but there are lots of good ones. I tend to shy away from the total 'luck based' popular American board games but they are not all bad and they are usually decent plays with the younger kids.

Computer board games are a good idea if you don't have friends on hand to play with, but otherwise tend to be inferior.
