The Pinocchio Illustrations of Willam Depster

I picked up this 1968 Pinocchio book at the local thrift store because I really loved the interior artwork. Very minimal yet very stylish. I have scanned twenty images and included them in a CBZ file if you are interested in seeing more.

Soviet Christmas Card Collection

Mazaika.com has a really nice collection of old Soviet Christmas cards. This does bring up a few questions?

Did they celebrate Christmas in the Soviet Union? Well, yes, I guess they did.

Is it a religious Christmas? I don't know, none of the cards seem to have a religious theme but neither do most of ours from the western protestant dominated world.

Roy who you might say? If you are a fan of advertising illustration you will certainly recognize the style of the image to the right. I have fond memories of his wordless workshop illustrations in Popular Science.
