THE PANORAMIC SOUND OF LENNON AND McCARTNEY by Cyril Stapleton His Choir and Orchestra

An album of easy listening Beatles covers. It's not that great but it's the Beatles... well, kind of!

The Sesame Street History of Rock and Roll!
Woot (yes, that Woot, the deal a day web site) has posted a nice look at the Rock and Roll history of Sesame Street. I had nearly forgotten about all of these gems but they are all pretty much classics. In some ways I wish I still had little kids in the house so that we could still watch Sesame Street!

The Beatles Animated

The Beatles were so popular that they inspired many tie-ins including this 1965 animated series (wikipedia). Of course none of the actual Beatles were involved in voicing this cartoon but they did use a Beatles song as the theme for each episode. Some fans have even taken this concept a bit further as they created some 'fake' versions of other Beatles songs (see I Am the Walrus below for an example).
Paul Frees was the voice of John and George and Lance Percival provided the voices of Ringo and Paul. Paul Frees should be familiar to Cool-Mo-Dee readers as the voice of many Disney productions, at least one voice in nearly everything that Jay Ward ever did, and hundreds of other roles (wikipedia). Lance Percival is not as well known in America but he has performed in many roles in the UK.

We're Late For Class - The Act You've Known For All Of These Years

We are going to return to our roots for this post (this blog was originally conceived to highlight music from bands that freely share their music online). I haven't had a chance to listen yet but I always love the stuff that these guys put out. This one is an ALL BEATLES mashup!

4. Grant Green - A Day in the Life
5. Lee Morgan - Yesterday
6. George Shearing -The Fool on the Hill
7. Bud Shank - Michelle
8. Richard Elliot - Imagine

10. Roy Meriwether - Norwegian Wood

Long Lost Beatles Album?

Is this a long lost Beatles album or elaborate hoax? I think that we all know the answer but it's still a fun idea. Check out the link to download your own copy and let us know your opinion in the comments.

The Muppet Show's BEATLES Covers (!)
I certainly didn't remember any Beatles songs being covered on the Muppet show but I wasn't a huge fan of the show. I do remember watching and enjoying the show but it wasn't one of my favorites.
There is one Sesame Street song in this list (Letter B - guess which song this one spoofs?).

Count Basie - Basie On the Beatles

This one is kind of interesting but ultimately it really just doesn't work for me. I love the Beatles and I really like Count Basie but it's just too 'easy listening' sounding to me.

Obscure Beatles Covers #1 - Enoch Light and the Light Brigade - Eight Days a Week

Come-ons from the album cover:
"just open this musical treasure house of musical delights and you'll find the real hit songs for..."
"You'll find music brilliantly arranged and played especially for the beat of the rhythmic new discotheque dances"
and, finally, the ultimate:
"You'll find the perfect reflection of the musical temper of America in the 60's."

The Zombeatles - A Hard Day's Night
I wish I would have found this one for the Halloweenathon countdown but it's still an amazingly funny music video that somehow manages to poke fun at zombies and those old Beatles movies!
