Music Podcasts
This week I have decided to highlight the music podcast. I listen to about a dozen of them each week and will present a few of my favorites.
KEXP is a public radio station broadcasting from Seattle, WA (and on the net) and features a large variety of eclectic programming with it's primary focus on indie music and local artists. This isn't to mean that they are bound by either and you would probably be hard pressed to find a better station in the Pacific Northwest.
Podcasts of note:
Song of the Day - A song is posted each day (umm, maybe that's why they named it this way?) and it's almost always indie rock.
Music That Matters - This one comes out about once a week and usually features lots of great indie rock music. It's normally like an hour slice of normal station programming that you can take with you on the go. The show sometimes branches into other genres (indie-rap) but that is the exception rather than the rule.
Live Performances - The station has LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of in studio guests from all genres and locales. Unfortunately most of them never seem to make it to this podcast but it's still worth putting it in your subcribed list. This week's artist was M. Ward from SxSW. Past artists included Loney, Dear, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Starf*cker.
