Last week we looked at the Flintstones from 1960-1973 (Link).
The next Flintstones related show, Fred Flintstone and Friends, aired from 1977-1978 as an afternoon syndicated series and was a repackaging of four other Hanna-Barbera cartoons (Goober and the Ghost Chasers, Jeannie, Partridge Family 2200 A.D., and Yogi's Gang) hosted by Fred Flintstone. This was the first series in which Alan Reed did not provide the voice of Fred (he died in 1977).
The New Fred and Barney Show aired on Saturday mornings for one year (1979). It is interesting to note that Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm returned as toddlers in this series.
Fred and Barney shows were then rerun (with some new episodes) as part of the next few series: Fred and Barney Meet the Thing (1979) and Fred and Barney Meet the Schmoo (1979). The former also starred the Thing (of Marvel Comics Fantastic Four) and the latter added the Schmoo to the same lineup. Fred and Barney never actually met EITHER of these characters in any of the cartoons!

The Flintstone Comedy Show aired from 1980-1982 and was another Saturday morning anthology show of mostly new Flinstones related cartoons, The Schmoo and Captain Caveman. The show was 90 minutes long (!) and managed to make it for two seasons before being replaced by the next Flintstones show. A favorite segment of mine during this run was the Frankenstones, a segment about a Munsters-like family that lives next door to the Flintstones. Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm make their return to teenagers in this series as well.

Bedrock Cops - Barney and the Bandit
Pebbles, Dino, and Bamm-Bamm - Dino and the Giant Spiders
