Filmation In the 60's

Filmation was created by Lou Scheimer and Hal Sutherland, who met while working at Larry Harmon Pictures, in 1963 (Rod Rocket) and their last production was in 1993 (Happily Ever After). The studio was purchased by the L'Oreal cosmetics company in 1989 and the film library has been owned by various entities since then.

The studio was perhaps best known as the chief competitor to Hanna-Barbera Productions and created many fine series including Fat Albert, Star Trek, The Archie Comedy Hour, He-Man, She-Ra, and countless superhero animated adaptations.
