Comedy Album Week at Cool-Mo-Dee

This week Cool-Mo-Dee is hosting a special salute to the comedy album! At one time this genre was extremely popular as hundreds of well-known (and even some unknown) masters of comedy recorded their routines and released them for public consumption. This genre has since been mostly supplanted by cable tv but a few standouts still exist (Adam Sandler and Weird 'Al' Yankovic for example). In addition to this 'four pack' of comedy albums, we will be posting another comedy album each day at 1 pm so come back every day and see what is new.

Burns & Schreiber - The Watergate Comedy Album (posted at Dr. Forrest's Cheeze Factory)
Vintage and timely (if it was still 1974) comedy album from a mostly forgotten duo. Link

Rodney Dangerfield - No Respect (posted at Any Genre Goes)
This one was enormously popular at the height of the genre's popularity. I am sure that everyone remembers Rodney's signature line - 'I don't get no respect.' It tends to get old but there are still some choice bits in this album. Link

Bill Cosby - To Russell, My Brother, Whom I Slept With (posted at Bobo's Favorites)
My mom had this one so I used to listen to it a lot before I could afford to purchase my own albums. Is that a ringing endorsement or what? Link

Various Artists - The Best Comedy Album In the World... Ever (posted at Zona-Musical)
This is a great starting point for the person wanting to explore the genre, lots of different bits from lots of different artists. Highly recommended. Link
