Sherlock Holmes Vs. Dracula (book review)
It's a bit far-fetched of a premise but it actually works if you are able to just take it for what it is - an adventure story that tries to combine the Victorian world of Sherlock Holmes with the Transylvanian/Gothic world of Dracula. Overall I did find it an enjoyable (and quick) read but it did leave me scratching my head a little. For one, there was no real definitive ending. It was almost as if the author, Loren D. Estleman, was hoping to leave it open for a sequel. A quck scan of Amazon.com shows that this author has written a few other 'crossover' novels starring Sherlock Holmes and other classic literary figures such as Alice In Wonderland and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
If you are looking for a Dracula story you may want to pass on this as it, to me, is much more a Sherlock Holmes story. If you just want a quick and enjoyable 'pulp' fiction type read then this is for you.
I got my copy from fictionwise as an e-book for a few bucks and it is also easily available on Amazon or any other internet bookseller.
