Marvel Comics CIVIL WAR (comic book review)

I am in the process of reading this series of 120 comics or so from the 2006 'mega-event' put out by Marvel Comics. While overall I have found the series a pretty good read, I can't say that it is without problems. As with most comic mega-events (from Marvel or DC) the tie-ins are just too much and start to get a little flimsy the more you get out from the center of the ruckus. The story starts to drag on and I find Iron Man/Tony Stark's actions pretty implausible throughout. I think that the story is trying to be some savvy political commentary over our country's actions since 9/11 but it is too ham-handed/heavy fisted to be as effective as any good politically tinted classic literature of the past (Animal Farm, 1984, etc.).

Overall I do recommend it as a fun read but don't stray too far from the main course. As with most mega-events in the comics world, it starts with a bang and ends with a rather pathetic whimper.

Buy it on Amazon.
