Today I was on a nostalgia kick so I tried to find something about this product. I think that I was only buying it at the tail end of it's existence in the early 1970's but I do remember taking my five cent a week allowance from my grandmother and buying this and lots of crazy foam!
Basically it was soap in the form of a bear that grew hair. I don't really remember the mechanism that was used to grow 'hair' but I am pretty sure it wasn't mold.
Fuzzy Wuzzy...Wow! I thought I was the only one who remembered ol' Fuzzy. Those were truly the simpler times in which I find myself strolling down memory lane all too often.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite stops; going to the neighborhood little corner grocery store to buy penny candy
(Sputnik gum), burning leaves in the backyard with the great smell and the chill in the autumn air, and good old Fuzzy Wuzzy.
I remember regularly checking the fuzz growth and washing my hands more than I normally would have just to get to that magical toy (plastic whistle) inside.
I believe when the soap got really small, there was a small toy inside. Some dopey kid probably choked on the toy and they banned them.
