The Flintstones 50th Anniversary
Google has a pretty cool logo up today that celebrates the 50th anniversary of THE FLINTSTONES. That's right, fifty years ago today the Flintstones debuted on ABC prime time tv.
The link below leads to Google's own collection of holiday and special logos.

(In case you were wondering why my images are all screwed up now you can thank Google as they have now mandated the advanced blog posting editor and it doesn't seem to play very nicely with my template. I will be switching to something else soon, stay tuned!)
23 Foot Lego Aircraft Carrier (!)
Almost as big as the real thing... well, not quite. Those nuclear powered carriers are huge (from what I remember they were about 900 feet long).

Gift Cards Vs. Cash
For some reason the public (us) have been duped into purchasing gift cards in lieu of gifting cash. I can't exactly explain it but it seems that it is now somewhat taboo to just give a wad of cash because the appearance to some is that you showed no thought in your gift. How much thought goes into a gift card?

Munsters Pilot
A slightly different cast (and color!). I think that they made the right decision by switching to black and white.

Ye Olde Playing Cards

Apparently, lots of people are still playing cards (I know that my family does but usually only when we are camping) so take a gander at this great UK site devoted to the art of the playing card.

Vintage CB Radio Cards

When I was a kid, CB radio was all the rage (at least for a couple of years). Many people even developed their own QSL cards to trade with others that they had communicated with and many of these cards were quite bizarre. Boingboing has posted a nice little collection of some of these great folk art treasures.

The Guardian has posted a list of 60 fun facts to celebrate Bill Murray's 60th birthday. Bill has always been one of my favorite dry-humor actors and I really have enjoyed his transition into the more serious dramas of late.
