Vice Gives You The Gift Of Good Music - FREE album download at Amazon.com

Here is a really nice one from Amazon! Highly recommended if you like your music 'out there' and aren't interested so much in the various forms of US pop music. That being said it's FREE, so why not take a chance? I don't know how long this one will last so hurry!

Vice Gives You The Gift Of Good Music - FREE MP3 Album at Amazon.com

I have started a new blog - MP3 bargains - in which I will post other great deals like this one. This blog will still continue (and grow) in 2009 but I wanted to provide a separate outlet to showcase some iTunes/DRM alternatives.

The 99 Most Essential Beethoven Masterpieces (MP3's for $1.99 at Amazon.com)

Another good deal if you have any interest in classical music. Even if you don't how can you go wrong with 99 songs for less than two dollars?

Ethiopiques Volume 1 - $1.99 MP3 Album at Amazon.com

I am listening to this great album right now and wanted to recommend it to all of you. Sort of a Jazzy/60's Pop Rock/African melange of sound that is impossible to shove into one category, this is the first cd in a long running series of cd's featuring this virtually unknown pool of music from a long lost era.

The CD is $17 (new) and I never see these cd's going for less than $12 in the used bins.

The Ten-Cent Plague: The Great Comic-Book Scare and How It Changed America David Hajdu (a book review)

I just finished reading this one and couldn't wait to recommend it to my readers! Lots of great stuff in here including interviews with most of the living comics luminaries that turned the medium into what it is today. It is truly amazing to read exactly what went on in this age of McCarthyism, the "red scare', and many other forms of censorship. Screw the bill of rights! Have we still not learned or does this thing (the Bill of Rights) only apply to those from which we wish to hear what they have to say?

I bought the ebook at fictionwise.com but you can get the hardback from Amazon right now or you can pre-order the softcover (releasing in February) for a few dollars less. I highly recommend this one!

Hanna-Barbera's Picnic Basket (posted at Dr. Forrest's Cheeze Factory)

4 discs loaded with Hanna-Barbera goodness! If you have been reading this blog for any length of time you should know how much I love Hanna-Barbera! Link

Frankenstein Conquers the World OST (posted at The Manchester Morgue)
Nice soundtrack from Akira Ifukube. I really don't like the movie all that much but the soundtrack is good. Link

Dickie Goodman - Mr. Jaws and Other Fables (posted at A Basement of Curiosities)
I had almost completely forgotten about these little gems! Remember back in the day (1970's) when they would come up with little comedic songs that sounded like interviews but included clips from hit songs of the day? Sure you do! Link

Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam OST (posted at Parties, Sarees, and Melodies)
I just found this cool blog that posts vintage Bollywood soundtracks so go there now and add it to your RSS reader if you like this sort of thing. Link

ABC Saturday Morning 1980

We are arriving at the outer edge of the time period in which I watched Saturday morning cartoons, I still watched them in 1980 (I was 13) but other things (girls) started interfering. I still liked Plastic Man but the Superfriends were starting to get a little corny to me. Thundarr started airing on Saturday mornings during this year but I don't remember ever watching it and I guess I just didn't like it very much even then!

Saturday Morning Bumper - 1980's (I am not sure of the year)

Super Friends - Revenge of Bizarro (clip)

Plastic Man - Episode 34 - The Crime Caper

Scooby and Scrappy - Close Encounter With a Strange Kid (episode 1 of season 2)

Richie Rich - Segment Intros

The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang - Intro

Thundarr the Barbarian - Intro

Spider-Woman (the Saturday Morning Cartoon)

This Depatie-Freleng (best known for their Pink Panther cartoons) series ran for one year/sixteen episodes in 1979 and was based on the Marvel comics character. No official dvd release seems to exist but all of the episodes are available on youtube.

Episode 2 - Realm of Darkness

Episode 3 - The Amazon Adventure

Episode 10 - Dracula's Revenge

Coverville's Annual Christmas Show

Another Christmas post that I forgot to post and I know everyone is already sick of Christmas music...

Coverville is a podcast that plays 'covers' - songs originally performed by other bands. In this case it's kind of strange because most Christmas music is really a cover of a much earlier version. Follow the link for this year's show.

Christmas Music 2008 (Part 8)

Well, I am certainly getting pretty tired of Christmas music so let's just get this one finished! Today's post is fairly eclectic and represents a rather nice mixture of links that I have been collecting for the past couple of months. Enjoy!
