Tor Johnson on YOU BET YOUR LIFE

Here is a nice find, Tor Johnson on YOU BET YOUR LIFE. And all this time I just though he was a rather horrible actor....

King Aroo Comic Strip (by Jack Kent)

From the legion of 'lost' comic strips comes this one from the mid 1950's. Apparently there is a compilation book available but it is long out of print (and $70 at Amazon!).

Click on the images below to see a larger/readable version.

Go-Go Albums of the 1970's

Grooves of Delight posts these amazingly eccentric albums from the 1970's on a regular basis. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea and usually not really mine but every once in a while I am in a weird mood.

Soundtrack Sharities

How about an artistic re-interpretation of the Footloose soundtrack? No? Oh, ok. Link

Easy listening version of the 'Love Themes From Cleopatra' - yeah, they listened to some weird shit back in the day! Link

Roger Waters (yes, THAT Roger Waters - from Pink Floyd) did this soundtrack back in 1970. Link

I remember buying this one when I was a kid because it was cheaper than the actual soundtrack (and they were actually playing the Cantina Band song from this album on top 40 radio!) Link

It's been a while since I featured one of these (don't ask me why, I have a few of them linked and was planning on posting!) so here is a good one - Classic Art Photoshopped with Modern Cinema.

Datajunkie has posted four issues of this golden age series (from 1944). I had never heard of it (but I am not the world's foremost authority on golden age comics either).

Vintage Kentucky Fried Chicken Radio Commercials

I bet you didn't wake up this morning thinking 'man I wish I had some old KFC commercials to listen to' but if you did this post is for you. At least 30 old commercials for your listening pleasure... it's not that bad, really!

Link

P.S. for even more fun, head over to April Winchell's website and grab the employee training tapes from this page. These things are classic! (and I did used to work at KFC but I never had to listen to these tapes)

William Shatner on the $20,000 Pyramid

He looks pretty young (and thin) in this one!

ABC Saturday Morning 1965

Many reruns but a new show appeared this year to capitalize on the latest 'fad' - which just so happened to be BEATLEMANIA! Saturday morning programmers were always great at doing this but they usually missed the boat by at least a couple of years.

All of the Beatles cartoons are available on youtube but have never been legitimately released to dvd. And none of the actual Beatles did the voices for the show but they did use real Beatles music.

ABC Saturday Morning 1962-1964

ABC was a couple of years behind the other two networks and didn't really join in the Saturday morning cartoon party until 1962 with a nearly full schedule of mostly reruns.

Bruce Bickford MONSTER ROAD trailer

I just saw this one hit the blogs - there is a Bruce Bickford showcase playing in LA. Bruce is an old-school claymation animator who does some really wonderful work.

Weebles Haunted House

Caught this one at SECRET FUN BLOG and it brought back lots of good memories. I actually hated those stupid Weebles at the time ('Weebles wobble but they don't fall down') but maybe I was a little old for the demographic?

And here is a 'bonus' post - an ad for the Weebles circus:
