Plaid Stallions blog just won't let this one go! And that is great because he has now unearthed this nice two minute home movie that somebody created in 1979 when their family visited Sea World. This would have been right around the same time that my grandparents took my brothers and I to this show!

DIY Microwave Popcorn
It might be fun to do this with your kids but for the most part I will stick with the prepackaged microwave popcorn because I would rather pay the quarter than clean up the inevitable huge mess.

We're Late For Class - #44 Solar Music

Another month, another FREE record from We're Late For Class! Why would you not get it? It's FREE. I like it but that may or may not be saying much, I have a rather eclectic taste in music.

Saturday Morning Comedians

You may not know this, but stand-up comedians and their vile, foul, filthy rhetoric are a perfect match for Saturday mornings.... well, maybe not. But it never kept the networks from trying!
This was a hard one to research and I am quite certain that I missed some so please let me know in the comments.
Roseanne Barr - The Rosey and Buddy Show (the net is surprisingly void of the predecessor to this show - LITTLE ROSIE)
Louie Anderson - Life With Louie
John Candy - Camp Candy
Howie Mandell - Bobbie's World
Martin Short - The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley
Robin Williams - Mork and Mindy/Laverne and Shirely/The Fonz
Richard Pryor - Pryor's Place (not a cartoon but he was one of the foulest stand-up comedians!)
Bill Cosby - Fat Albert
Paul Ruebens (Pee-Wee) - Pee Wee's Playhouse

Java SNES Emulator
In the 'I never thought that I would see this' department comes a java script SNES emulator. It seems that it only works well in Google's CHROME browser but still who would have ever thought that you could play SNES games in your web browser? Not me.

Universal Studios Tour Album
Vinny Rattolle has posted this relatively obscure LP that was originally sold as a park souvenir in 1979. The person who compiled this archive was also kind enough to include lots of photos to help you get a grasp of what in the hell it is that they are talking about in this 'audio tour.'

The National Lampoon Radio Hour
Egg City Radio has posted the first six episodes of this short-lived (November 1973 to December 1974) show. Most of the early cast of Saturday Night Live is featured (John Belushi, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner to name a few) and most of the bits were written by the great comedy writers of our time. Most of the National Lampoon records were created with material from this show. Highly recommended.

Mr. Lucky - Original Television Soundtrack by Henry Mancini

I recently watched Breakfast at Tiffany's and was actually more captivated by the soundtrack than the actual movie so imagine my surprise when I found this baby at the thrift store! There is actually a cd release of this soundtrack but it seems to be out of print (used copies are $50 and up at Amazon.com).

Saturday Morning Cartoons - The Cereal Commercials

More often than not I remember the commercials more than the shows so this week let us pay tribute to the 70's Saturday morning commercials! I never think that many commercials were effective on me but I have to give it to the cereal commercials because they worked!
This week we are highlighting breakfast cereal commercials.
Cap N Crunch Double Feature - Crunch Berries and Captain Jean LaFoote/Cinnamon Crunch
Fruit Loops - 1975
Sonny and Gramps - Cocoa Puffs (6 different commercials)
Kellogg's Cereals - It's Gonna Be a Great Day (1980)
Monster Cereals - 1970's - With Mini Monsters in specially marked boxes!

Nonstop Discotheque Party Dance

It's easy to dismiss most disco music as dated and superficial and, to be honest, a lot of this album is fairly generic. There are a couple of really good songs here though and the album, as a whole, does a good job of capturing that Ronco/K-Tel disco era.
